Your BMW's air filter is intended to clean the air entering the intake before it gets into the engine. Over the course of thousands of hours of operation the air filter can become clogged up by dust and other debris which will significantly decrease air flow into the engine. In addition, a clogged air filter can also allow smaller particles through into the engine causing additional wear and tear. This OEM replacement filter will drop into place and fit just like the original.
BMW recommends regular inspection of your engines air filter and replacement every 30,000km. We recommend shorter inspection and replacement intervals in dustier environments.

Engine Air Filter Failure Symptoms
- Clogging: Over time, your air filter can become clogged with dirt, dust, and debris, reducing the amount of fresh air that reaches the engine. This can lead to poor engine performance, reduced fuel efficiency, and increased emissions.
- Moisture Contamination: Exposure to excessive moisture, whether from driving in heavy rain or through water, can cause the air filter to become saturated. A wet filter can restrict airflow, further deteriorate over time, and lead to potential engine damage.
- Age: Over time, the materials in the air filter can degrade, losing their ability to filter out contaminants effectively. An old air filter may become brittle and prone to tearing. It is recommended to inspect your engine air filter every 15 - 30,000 miles
- Decreased Fuel Efficiency: When the air filter is blocked, the engine struggles to get the proper air-fuel mixture, causing it to burn more fuel to compensate, resulting in reduced fuel efficiency and reduced performance
