ECU unlocking for Mercedes-Benz, done in-house at our East Tamaki workshop.

Later Mercedes-Benz ECUs are locked from the factory. Before any calibration can be written, the ECU has to be unlocked. Every other workshop in New Zealand sends those units offshore and waits one to three weeks. We do it here, on our own bench.

How it is done

The ECU is opened on the bench - nothing is soldered and no components are removed. Access is taken on our own bench, the housing is closed and resealed by us, and the unit is tested before it goes back in the car. A full original read is archived first.

Confirmed coverage

Bosch MDG1 control units MD1CP001 (MRD1) and MG1CP002 (MRG1) - the mainstream Mercedes-Benz four and six cylinder petrol and diesel range.

AMG V8 models are not covered. Those cars use a different control unit (MRG1-V8) which we cannot unlock in-house - we will tell you that up front rather than take the booking.

Coverage depends on the exact ECU fitted to your car, not just the badge. Send us your year, model and engine and we will confirm your ECU is supported before you pay. This is a workshop service - the car or the ECU needs to come to us at 27a Neilpark Drive, East Tamaki.
